چکیده

Human operators are imperative to the functioning and success of a manufacturing system. Yet there is a noticeable lack of research in modeling of human operators, especially decision-making aspects. In this paper, the complex task of modeling of human operator decision-making in a manufacturing system is addressed using Belief-DesireIntention (BDI) agent paradigm. The roles, responsibilities and services of the operator are mapped on to mental models of beliefs, desires and intentions. The dynamic evolution of the mental models is also highlighted. The functioning of the human operator model is illustrated by integrating the model with a shop floor control system.

BDI-based Human Decision-Making Model in Automated Manufacturing Systems

Advances in automation technologies changed the manufacturing environment, where equipment replaced many physical functions of a human. However, humans are still imperative in the automated manufacturing system due to their decision-making functions. This paper presents a novel software agent model to replace the partial decision-making function of a human and its implementation in a distribute...

A new BDI agent architecture based on the belief theory. Application to the modelling of cropping plan decision-making

Agent-based simulations are now widely used to study complex systems. However, the problem of the agent design is still an open issue, especially for social-ecological models, where some of the agents represent human beings. In fact, designing complex agents able to act in a believable way is a difficult task, in particular when their behaviour is led by many conflicting needs and desires. A wi...

Comprehensive Decision Modeling of Reverse Logistics System: A Multi-criteria Decision Making Model by using Hybrid Evidential Reasoning Approach and TOPSIS (TECHNICAL NOTE)

In the last two decades, product recovery systems have received increasing attention due to several reasons such as new governmental regulations and economic advantages. One of the most important activities of these systems is to assign returned products to suitable reverse manufacturing alternatives. Uncertainty of returned products in terms of quantity, quality, and time complicates the decis...

A Self-organized Multi Agent Decision Making System Based on Fuzzy Probabilities: The Case of Aphasia Diagnosis

Aphasia diagnosis is a challenging medical diagnostic task due to the linguistic uncertainty and vagueness, large number of measurements with imprecision, inconsistencies in the definition of Aphasic syndromes, natural diversity and subjectivity in test objects as well as in options of experts who diagnose the disease. In this paper we present a new self-organized multi agent system that diagno...

Creating and Visualising an Intelligent NPC using Game Engines and AI Tools

Our research is focussed on the creation of human-like Artificial Intelligence (AI) based on the Belief Desire Intention (BDI) paradigm that employs rational decision making processes to achieve behaviour in computer game characters that will appear more realistic than current reactive techniques. To test the agent behaviour we need to develop an architecture that incorporates various systems s...
